Procedure to Setup the Touchscreen Driver

In order to load the touch screen drivers, please follow these instructions.

  1. Go into device manager.
  2. Click on the plus(+) sign next to the Mouse and Other pointing devices entry.
  3. Highlight the PS/2 device and right mouse click on it, then chose update driver (if not present, select Properties and then Update driver).
  4. When the Update driver wizard opens, it may open to a screen asking you to connect to Windows update, select No, not this time and select next.
  5. At the next screen, select install from a list or specific
    location, and select next.
  6. At this screen select, don’t search. I will choose the driver to
    install, and select next.
  7. At the Show compatible hardware screen, highlight the PS/2
compatible mouse entry and click on the have disk button.
  8. At the Install form Disk screen, select browse, and at the locate file window, find the location where you unpacked the touchscreen drivers. Highlight the file and select Open. After you select open, it will
take you back to the Install from Disk box and now the location of the
file you have selected will be in the space marked, Copy manufacture’s
file from, at this screen select OK. This will take you back to the
Show compatible hardware, where now it should say touchscreen/
touchpad. If there are more than 1 entry, just highlight one of the
entries and select next. Files should start to transfer and you may
get a message about the driver not being approved, just select Continue anyway.
  9. This will complete the install. Reboot the unit and when it powers back on and you sign into windows, the touchscreen should work.

  1. i was wondering if you can convert a non-touchscreen cf 18 to a touchscreen with the downloadable driver?

  2. Thorp,

You’re helping me in another forum as well!! I have a question for you. I believe mine (CF-18DHAZXKM) is a digitizer model (whatever that means). So you’re saying the touchscreen / tablet won’t work without the special stylus? Does that need to be ordered from Panasonic, or is it something I might be able to pick up locally?

    Thank you,
    Brian

  3. You have only touchscreen the H is the screen type. You need to load drivers from panasonic. It will help if you have XP Pro. you can just update drivers. You can’t run XP Tablet with Touchscreen it will shut it down, it only works with digitizer types.

    • Richie,
All CF-18 models are touchscreen enabled. There are two versions: active digitizer or resistive touchscreen. The only difference is you have to use special stylus with active digitizer model.

  4. Thank you both for your fast response! Thorp I’ve tried tapping the screen but that’s about it. Is there anything special I need to do? I assume it’s not currently loaded b/c it’s not showing up in my Windows Control Panel (running Vista Ultimate).

  5. I have a CF-19 mk3 (CF-19KDRAXCM). After I’ve installed XP Pro SP3 I can’t get the touchscreen to work at all (finger or stylus). Which driver I should use?

    • Peter,
Usually models with digitizers come with Windows XP Tablet. Tablet version recognizes digitizer during the initial setup automatically. For Windows XP try to use “Install hardware automatically option”. Meanwhile I’ll try to find compatible drivers for Wacom digitizer.

  6. I have model # CF18BDAZXMM. The digitizer screen does not work. Where do I fond the drivers to make this work. I have both stylus and the touchscreen works with 1 stylus, but it wont work with my finger or the other stylus. any help is appreciated
    Thanks

    • Victor,
If your digitizer works with stylus you don’t need any additional drivers. The digitizer works ony with stylus, you can’t use your finger.

      • Thanks for your quick responce. How do I turn it into a screen that you can use your finger. We have 4 CF18′s at work and all of them have this ability. Do I need to change the screen or is there another way. Thanks You once again

        • There is no easy way to do it. Digitizer and resisitve touchscreen are two completely different technologies. Much easier is to sell digitizer version and buy touchscreen version. Second letter in serial number will tell you: CF-18XDXXXX – with digitizer, CF-18XHXXXX – touchscreen.

  7. Brian,
Your model is equipped with resistive touchscreen. It can be operated with both stylus and your finger. Have you tried your touchscreen feature?
